Grainger - My Robin is to the Greenwood Gone
Incredible music, beautifully played! Thanks for sharing!
This work is really a marvel of scoring and orchestration. And it's a delight to listen to as well. This recording in particular is flawless, really incredible playing.
I love how when you listen to this song with headphones, the "and" and "ah" parts alternate between which ear hears them. This song really is ahead of its time.
I swear to God this and a Rite of Spring is the hardest scores in the world to follow. State law!
My favorite moments from this absolute masterpiece :) 0:18 sax interruption 0:31 cool Grainger chord 0:41 super cool powerful horn 1:04 another awesome Grainger chord 2:47 really cool layering and texture and the polyrhythm makes it stick more 4:02 another awesome chord 4:13 same cool layering and polyrhythm as before 4:33-5:15 absolutely love this quartet with the bassoon and oboe two counts behind the picc and alto clarinet to echo. This section also brings out a lot of really cool unexpected harmonies like at 5:07 as a result of the instruments grainger chose to use in the quartet and because of the echoing throwing in harmonies 5:14 really cool offbeat clarinet chords 5:19 this entire soprano solo is really gut wrenching for me i love its texture and flavor 6:17 awesome low brass 6:31 AAAAAAAAH YES 7:09 another awesome brass part 7:34 cool trumpet bitonality 8:14 whooaaaaaa those saxes sound so weird I love it 8:20 start of poachers is back but changed up 9:43 wow that sounds so hard 9:58 love the bassoon/bari sax part here 10:26 cool brass sound 10:39 WHOOOOOOOAAAAAAA
arm and wrist as stiff as possible...

played this back in 7th grade, gives me nostalgia just listening to this.
reminds me of Kapustin
Nowhere to hide in this piece and it’s all the better for it.
The passage beginning at 1:19 hits
Mientras compositores nazis como Orff ganaban fama y dinero esribiendo la musica "no degenerada" otros como Schulhoff morian miserablemente en los campos de exterminiio dew Hitler....
The pianist can’t keep time worth a damn
She’s doing a phenomenal job. Piano solo performances are fundamentally different than an orchestra regarding tempo expectations.

Les cuivres !!!!!
playing this for my high school symphnic band as a freshman , im playing euphonium this piece is beautiful.
Bravo Penelope ! excellent voicing and dynamics. Totally conveys the spirit of this music
Bass clarinet part on lisbon has some evil fingerings
That euphonium solo in mvt 5 sounded like it was played by a British brass band player....but it's an American band!
Can any one tell me what that weired noise at the end was
sound when you mess up in the game "simon"
@@Octavestorm replying after 12 years that is dedication!
Making these Grainger recordings is a happy memory...glad you like them Octavestorm..

Bill Potts is the great unsung hero of modern jazz composers (and pianist band leaders - a la Count Basie and Duke Ellington).
Have enjoyed playing this many times in military and concert bands
How to play dat In Futurum?
Sounds really great!
ありがとう
Im 13 and can reach all of the chords, are my hands big
This is a little GEM....so wonderful!
A few moments of pure, radiant sunshine.
Orchestral music is the best!
Eastman WE under Fennell is much better. Graham is just a pretender.
I hear a lot of grieg here. Beautiful music
well to the fore
Wait he made normal music as well 💀
Listening to this string quartet again after a couple of years I find myself again deeply in love with it. In a way I cannot explain (I'm not a musician) it feels absolutely like MY music. Magical.
I feel like the second suite is so repetitive. The march is just two segments and then you play them both again, song without words is definitely the best movement and is more similiar to the first suite, song of the blacksmith also uses repetition better than the first movement, but is too short, and the fourth movement you just hear the same line for 3 minutes straight
"The Forsyte Saga" brought me here. Beautiful playing made me stay.
BRILLIAN!!!!! Кастальский родник!!!
thanks for posting this. wonderful music.
なんて美しい曲でしょう❤
so nice!!! A perfect encore piece actually
Lovely. Goedicke was an excellent pianist and was first cousin to the Russian pianist and composer Nikolai Medtner (Medtner’s mother’s maiden name was Goedicke).
Hei mr.Mayer. Of all your records at the moment, this is the best one after my tast. In this piece you have all the best things a oboplayer must have, nice sound in the register and perfect tecnic….Great maestro. Collega B Hoff
Wonderful😮
Normally I think Sibelius usually loses his personal voice when writing for the piano (his style seems so orchestrally based that once he starts writing for solo instruments it doesn’t sound like him at all). This is one of the few piano works of his thats sounds totally like Sibelius and no other composer. Obviously not his best work, but characterful and very charming!
My friend and I want to play this piece for a concert. Does anyone have the sheet music? Preferably, for piano and clarinet. And if someone has this, can you send it to me?
